Never in a million years did I imagine this blog would put me right in front of the amazing people it has. Moms + Social Good broke the curve on amazing people under one roof. Not just any people, but people who are doing amazing things for humanity and for the World.
As you can see the topic was What kind of world do we want for our families by 2030? This question made me wonder and as we heard the speakers, I kept thinking of what quality of living I want for my kids in 2030. Many of the speakers were speaking from the heart and their words and commitment definitely made me want to take a stand and do something. We have so many issues in the world, even as simple as lack of water or food, yet we are so oblivious it’s definitely time to change this.
The afternoon was filled with powerful speakers not only in the entertainment business but also in politics and social media. They discussed our role in order to change the way we live and also ways to help out. Anne Geddes was also in attendance and showed some pictures she took of children suffering from meningococcal disease. She also spoke about the importance of accessibility to vaccination.
It was also amazing to hear the story of Her Excellency Toyin Saraki straight from her and how she’s fighting and not giving up in order to better the world. She was in the panel with Nana Kuo who is part of UNICEF and Krystal Ball from MSNBC. During this panel they spoke about the need to better the labor and delivery in some countries. Need for medical care is essential as well as other resources like water and pediatric care for newborns.
I was very excited and thought it was an amazing treat to hear from Ambassador Samantha Power, who focused on how to explain the state of the World to young children. She was very candid in explaining how hard it was to put the phone down and focus on her son. She also explained how the United Nations created a group for Ambassadors to bring their children together and share activities and cultures. She was interviewed by Connie Britton who is a Godwill Ambassador.
There were many other speakers during the day including Jessica Seinfield who created Baby Buggy who is an organization that gives to mothers and families in need, children essentials like strollers and diapers.
