I am a Disney FANATIC. Disney can do no wrong in my book. But in all honestly, I wasn’t interested in Inside Out. My kids on the other hand were beyond excited, so I was happy when The Moms had a special screening last Friday. I have to say, I laughed-I cried I enjoyed every single minute of that movie. I don’t want to spoil it for you but I’ll tell you it’s a story of what happens inside a girls brain. Her emotional struggle and her memories.
The movie stars Bill Hader as Fear, Kaitlyn Dias as Riley, Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, Lewis Black as Anger, Diane Lane as the mom and Kyle MacLachlan as the dad. The movie is cast to perfection with each personality portrayed exactly as you would imagine. I felt a connection with each one of the characters and that added to the reason why this movie is a must see for the whole family.
The movie follows the inside of the girl brains from birth until tween years. How she goes to every emotion to how her memories are stored from the most important (core memories) to the least important that get vacuumed up. As the story develops the characters (emotions) goes through their own struggles and find themselves in different territories than they are used to, changing how Riley reacts to what’s going on in her life. Through Joy and Sadness travel they meet other character including Bing Bong.
What I found the most enjoyable about the movie is how relatable is to this moment in my life, where so many emotions are running wild. It definitely rings true how Joy is the boss in Rileys’ life and we are trying to find Joy every day when we wake up, but are taken over by Sadness or Anger. The movie is colorful, full of emotion, and real life messages for parents and kids a like.

I know a lot Pixar movies, including Toy Story have used the word stupid, but there is one moment in this movie where one of the characters says moron out loud. I found it a bit shocking and was definitely not prepared for that.
The Moms as always has a really lovely afternoon planned for us, including special treats from KIND and Vita Coco. And a little Q&A with the one and only Bill Hader. Inside Out opens nation wide Friday, June 19th.
