A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate to screen the first episode of the new Disney XD show Star Wars Rebels. I was a bit apprehensive, as I am not really a Star Wars fan. My husband is a HUGE fan so I wanted to take him and check it out. We got to the theater and there were so many fans! Dressed like different Star Wars characters! Even I got a t-shirt to wear for the event! This was a family friendly screening so they had crafts for the kids, raffles, and face painting. Even my husband enjoyed this part, he got the Rebel Alliance Crest painted in his arm.

It was fun. I have to say, of course there is some laser shooting involved, but Disney made a good job of keeping it appropriate. I’m not going to lie, it was definitely better than I expected and I enjoyed myself enough to continue watching the series. Star Wars Rebels has new characters and a completely different story line than any of the other Star Wars so it was interesting to learn about these new characters.

My favorite character is Zeb. He is tough but funny and I appreciate his sarcasm. The other characters are Ezra he is the main character, Hera, Kanan, Sabine, Chopper, Agent Kallus and The Inquisitor. All the characters bring a different dimension to the story. Ezra still needs to grow on me, which I believe they did on purpose, try to make him grow up as the show goes on.

All in all if you are a Star Wars fan this is a MUST. And if you don’t like Star Wars it is definitely a good time to start! The Star Wars Rebel show is a great way to weave yourself into the Star Wars world! Check it out tonight at 9p/8c on Disney XD
